Paid Sick Leave – Consumer-Directed Attendants: The 2021 General Assembly passed HB2137 requiring employers of home health workers to provide paid sick leave benefits to essential employees who work an average of 20 hours per week or 90 hours per month. The Virginia Medicaid agency is in the planning phase of this important benefit for home care attendants employed through the Consumer-Directed program.

Live-in Attendant Update: All live-in consumer-directed care Attendants were required to provide proof of address to maintain a live-in exemption status by June 30, 2021. Effective August 1, 2021, Attendants who did not provide proof of address no longer qualify for the live-in benefit. Read more
Temporary Attendant Update: If you are a COVID-19 emergency parent or spouse caregiver, the emergency response has been extended and will not end August 1, 2021. More information will be provided when there is an end date.
